Pilot Mound (A)

BJ Avery of the Pilot Mound Pilots baseball team is this week’s Tri-Star Rural High School athlete of the week. This 6’1” pitcher led the team to the Zone 6 championship, and a spot at this weekend’s Provincial Championships in Stonewall, posting a 6-0 league record. In the zone championship he picked up a win in relief in the semi-finals and in the finals winning 4-2. Coach Wade Watson states, “BJ has really come into his own this year as a team leader. He works hard on his game and encourages his teammates to work harder”. In addition to baseball he also recently qualified for the Milk Provincial Track & Field Championships in the multi-event and 4 x 400m relay. This grade 12 student maintains an average of 80%, while also competing in volleyball, badminton, and basketball.
