The Tire Recycle Urban Athletes of the Week are Rich Del Mundo & Mikko Syfu of the Maples Marauders badminton team.

This dynamic duo of grade 11 students compete in men's doubles and started off the year by winning the gold medal in the Maples tournament, which helped their Maples team claim the aggregate trophy.   Coach Jenn Humeny states, “Rich is just an exceptional athlete. His speed is such an asset on the court, and he spends all of his free time in the gym. Mikko plays club badminton and has great knowledge and awareness of the game. His methodical shot placements and creativity always keep their opponents guessing.” 

The 5’8” Rich maintains a 74% average, while also competing in volleyball, basketball, football, track and baseball. The 5’9” Mikko maintains a 91% average.
