Sami Jo Small Award

Sami-Jo Small was a tremendous athlete in high school and represented Canada at 3 Olympic Games, in two of which, Team Canada won gold. She was also a member of 5 World Championship winning teams for Canada and was MHSAA Athlete of the Year and Scholar/Athlete Award winner in 1994, while attending College Jeanne Sauve. The Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame presents the Sami Jo Small Award, a $1,000 scholarship to a female high school hockey player who is recognized for a combination of excellence in athletics, academics, and community service.

Portage (AAAA)

Tawn Rellinger, of the Portage Collegiate Saints. Tawn, captain of the Portage Collegiate Women's Hockey Team, was also the team's leading scorer and in the top 10 scorers in the league. Last year, while living in Newfoundland, she played hockey at the Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse. She coaches soccer, and refs community hockey. Tawn also has been involved in organizing grad events. While maintaining a 93% academic average, she was selected Portage Collegiate Athlete of the Week after scoring 22 points in 14 games. She was also selected as a league all-star.
