The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Deidre Bartlett of the Oak Park Raiders basketball team.

This 5’5” guard is averaging 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists per game, while shooting 42% from 3 point line for the season. She was MVP of the Piper Classic and an All-Star at the Garden City, Pembina Trails, St. Vital tournaments.  Coach Murray Brown states, “Deidre is a tremendously competitive player who has emerged as a leader for the Raiders this season. She is a knockdown shooter, hitting 42% of her shots from the 3 point line, an outstanding average at any level of basketball. Her recent 8 of 9 from 3 performance against Westwood was truly amazing, a performance which stands out in any season. Additionally she plays extremely good defense, a testament to her very high basketball IQ and desire to be a complete player”.

In grade 11, she maintains a 90% academic average, while also participating in volleyball and track & field.
