The Tire Recycle Rural High School Athlete of the Week is Emiel Klaassen of the Dufferin Christian Stingers badminton team in Carman.

This 6’1” men singles player finished as champion at the Northlands Parkway tournament, and both Carman Collegiate tournaments he participated in.  He also was a finalist at another Northlands Parkway tournament and in the zone regional competition. Coach Justin Raap states, “Emiel plays the game with an exceptional sense of calm and control, thinking through the game at a very high-level. He also displays a high level of honesty and integrity, as well as respect for all opponents. He is a positive role model for younger athletes on the badminton team”. 

This grade 12 student, maintains an 85% academic average, while also participating in volleyball and soccer.
