Jack Mandryk

Lord Selkirk (AAAA)

Sports: Volleyball

The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Jack Mandryk of the Lord Selkirk Royals volleyball team.

This 6’1” setter has led the Royals to two straight volleyball tournament championship and 2-0 start to KPAC league play.  He was awarded a tournament all-star at the U of W Tournament. Coach Jeff Scarcello states, “Jack is a wonderful player to have on the team. He has an unmatched passion for the sport and his determination is far beyond what most other players I have coached before have had. He leads by example on the court, but isn't shy about making sure that others are doing their part too. He is very easy to work with and has an incredible intellect of the game. He has made leaps and bounds in his ability to play the game and most of that has come from his own desire to push himself. As a coach, my only role with him is to keep him guided in the right direction. He is able to provide his own motivation for working his hardest and never needs a reminder to work harder or play tougher.”

In grade 12, he maintains a 96% academic average.
