Stacy Hawash, of Vincent Massey Collegiate, with Delvyn Cote, and Greg Reid of Roseau Valley School in Dominion City, have been selected as Payworks High School Coaches of the Month for February.
Stacy has been coaching for 20 years, and her Trojans girls basketball teams have appeared in six Final Fours over the last 8 years, most recently being a finalist against the Sisler Spartans. They have captured three “AAAA” Varsity girls championships under her coaching, and Stacy has been named as varsity coach of the year 3 times. Stacy also coaches Team Handball, and is a basketball official and has served on the MHSAA Board of Directors. She has built an outstanding basketball and athletic culture at Vincent Massey.
Greg Reid and Delvyn Cote have been coaching the Raiders basketball team for 6 years and basically started from scratch. They have built an inclusive environment that has attracted a variety of student athletes. They have built up their knowledge of coaching through clinics, but have also formed the program around the school needs. They go the extra mile, which includes picking up kids for 7 am practices and making sure everyone has a place on the team. They have committed to the JV boys and taken an extra night or two a week to get them in Zone 4 competition on that level. Having an 8-4 record with 14 players who work at their skills daily is a true victory.
