Sheer dominance: Massey's Filewich checks all the boxes in high school poll



A 6-foot-8 player who can grab rebounds isn’t unusual.


One with the hands to pour in 30 or 40 points a game — that’s another story.


Kyler Filewich’s ability to do both for Vincent Massey Collegiate has earned him the nod as the top high-school player in the province in the Winnipeg Sun’s annual coaches poll.


And he’s only in Grade 11.


“The combination of his size, his decision-making, his intelligence, his experience – his potential is very big,” Trojans coach Nick Lother said. “Something that our province hasn’t seen in a long time, in terms of his sheer dominance.
