For the second straight year, the Vincent Massey Trojans were one game away from a provincial girls basketball championship.
And for the second straight year, the Oak Park Raiders squashed those hopes on the hardwood.
Riding 24 points and 20 rebounds from tournament MVP Claire Signatovich, the Raiders dominated the Trojans, 70-44, in Monday night’s AAAA high school final at the University of Manitoba.
“There were so many people on our team deserving of it,” Signatovich said of the MVP award. “All five of our starters are coming back. I think (the team) will be pretty similar to this year. It’ll be good, it’ll be fun. It’ll be a good year.”
