Manitoba's Credit Unions Scholar Athlete

Alex Bell of Lord Selkirk Regional Secondary School participates in volleyball, Track & Field, Badminton, Soccer and Cross-Country Running.  She placed 3rd in the 2006 Cross Country Running Championships and won 2006 “AAAA” Girls Volleyball Championship with the Selkirk Royals.  She maintains a 95.6% academic average, is on the honour roll and had the highest average in Senior 3.  Alex is Student Council co-President, a Youth in Philanthropy member and a member of the High Performance Cross Country Ski team, participating in the Canada Winter Games.

Alex states, “An important part of my education has come from school sports.  I have had the chance to look up to outstanding role models and eventually become one myself.  School sport has taught me how to be a valued team member and how to deal with the responsibilities and expectations that come with team involvement……It has taught me that believing is achieving…..The most valuable thing that high school sport has taught me is to never give up and believe in myself.”
