Willie Bell of Lord Selkirk Regional Secondary School, participates in volleyball, cross-country running, indoor and outdoor track and water polo.  He placed first in the senior boys category in all of the conference meets and took a silver medal at cross-country provincials and 4th in the 3000m event at Provincial Track.  He also set a number of indoor track records.  He maintains a 98.1% average and is Student Council Co-President.  He also participated in the Champions cross-mentoring program, and is chairman of the Youth and Philanthropy Committee.

Willie states, “Some people look at others with high marks and say that they must be smart.  It may be more likely that students with high marks simply decided to do the work to obtain their goal.  This is the main thing that sport has taught me, the correlation between effort and result.  As well, my team experiences have included many friendships and have provided me with both social and leadership skills…..I feel that a large part of my education, to this point in my life, has come from sport.”
