Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

Vanessa Christiuk of the Morris Mavericks fastpitch team is this week’s Tri-Star Rural High School athlete of the week. This 5’8” pitcher is the Maverick’s team captain. In a game against the Mennonite Collegiate Blues she led the team, hitting a triple, while striking out 14 batters. Coach Stephanie Kurylko states, “Vanessa is a very dedicated student athlete. She is a great motivator with her teammates and is always enthusiastic. Vanessa is constantly working to improve through hard work and her passion for sport. She continues to be a positive leader on both our teams and the school community”. This grade 12 student maintains an average of 85%, while also competing in volleyball and basketball.
