Manitoba's Credit Unions Scholar Athlete
Marcy Heaman is a 17-year-old from Virden Collegiate Institute. Marcy participates in volleyball, basketball, fastball, badminton, track and field and beach volleyball. She has been selected as an all-star in several volleyball and basketball tournaments. She maintains a 95% average and is a member of the schools honor roll. In addition to her athletic activities, she serves on the undergrad awards committee, the grad executive committee, the grad decorating committee, and coaches junior varsity volleyball team. She is also a volunteer at the Westman Nursing Home and conducts an exercise class at Evergreen Place as well as helping coach a variety of activities. Marcy has stated "… athletics gives me a positive attitude for life. I always push myself to do better. For that, I need a good attitude and motivation … Having a focused positive attitude to sports helps me stay positive towards life … Most importantly, athletics have helped me build unforgettable friendship. To succeed on a team, you have to get along. The most important skill I have developed is how to show leadership."
