Manitoba's Credit Unions Scholar Athlete

Yacine Bara of Miles MacDonell Collegiate is the final recipient of the CIBC Scholar/Athlete Award.  This 95% plus student is enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Program.  Yacine is the president of the student council and a member of the Vietnam Orphanage committee, Kiwanis Educating Youth Club, and a library tutor.  Yacine was a member of the graduating all-star team for both "AAAA" volleyball and basketball and was selected as the most valuable player in the Provincial "AAAA" Basketball Championships, which his team captured.  Yacine has stated…."School sport instills in its participants the value of time management, anger management, determination, perseverance, teamwork, gracious defeat, and gracious victory.  It takes little consideration to realize that these qualities serve great purpose in all facets of life.  Those that are able to master them become great leaders and succeed.  It is for this reason that high school sport is extremely beneficial to all those that partake in it."
