Manitoba's Credit Unions Scholar Athlete
Christopher Batty of Grant Park High School is a member of the cross-country, track & field, soccer, and volleyball teams. Christopher was 8th at the Provincial Cross-country meet, and broke the 800m record at the Minnesota Outstate Meet. Christopher also won the gold in the 100m hurdles and silver in the 800m at the McDonald's Provincial Track & Field Championships. Christopher maintains a 98% academic average and has the highest subject marks at Grant Park in advanced math, advanced English, advanced computers, and advanced French. Christopher is a member of his church's youth and adult choir and jazz and concert bands. Christopher states, "In our competitive and fast-paced world, any edge that we can provide for our youth is a welcome one. I firmly believe that high school athletics can be that edge. It provides students with experience and skills that will benefit them through out their lives, not just in sports, but also in higher education, their careers, and even in their personal lives….students who compete in high school sports are better prepared for the competitiveness of our world……"
