Tom Black of Neepawa Area Collegiate maintains a 90% average while participating in football, basketball, and track & field.  Black was quarterback and captain of his Neepawa Tigers in the rural Manitoba high school football league and lost to Swan River in this year's provincial championship.  He was selected the league Most Valuable Player as well as the Norris Aitken Memorial Award for leadership, athletic ability and academics.  He was a member of the bronze medalists team in the basketball provincials and as well competed in the 4x4-relay team, 4x1-relay team, medley team, and 400m events in track & field.  Off the playing field, Black coached a junior high basketball team, was a member of his peer helper group, was a drummer in the Neepawa Lions Band and played the lead role in the drama production of My Fair Lady.  Tom also is a member of the War Amps Safety Ambassador Program.  Tom states, "High School Athletics have always been a big part of my life, I feel that playing on teams, as well as individually, has made me a stronger more confident person.  As captain of hockey and football teams, I have developed stronger leadership and communication skills and have learned to work with many different individuals in many ways".
