Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Geselle Dela Merced of the Sisler Spartans Track team.

This 5’7” jumper and runner won gold in the hurdles, long jump, triple jump and 4 x 100M relay at the Winnipeg School Division #1 Track Meet.  She followed that up by helping lead the school’s rugby team to the City Championship.  Coach Michael Tan states, “Geselle is a coach’s dream, she’s athletic, coachable and gets along with just about everyone. She is a leader on which ever sports team she is playing on. She is counted upon to lead by example and is a great example of how hard work and dedication can lead to success. This mindset has really rubbed off on a lot of her younger teammates as they follow her example.”

This grade 12 student maintains an 85% average while also participating in cross country, basketball, volleyball.
