Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Gillian Hayek of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Canadians Track team.

This 5’2” runner won the SCAC Zone Championship in both the 400m and 800m races, qualifying her for the MILK Provincial Track & Field Championships this coming weekend.  Coach Stewart Hayek states, “Gillian is one of the hardest working athletes I have ever seen. She always puts in the extra effort to achieve her goals which are always set high. Her amazing self-discipline and time management skills help her to excel in her athletic endeavours as well as academic and music accomplishments. It has been a pleasure to coach this talented young lady and I look forward to seeing Gillian progress even further.”

This grade 11 student maintains a 91% average while also participating in cross country, and badminton.
