Athlete of the Week
The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Michael Raaflaub of the Kelvin Clipper football team.
This 6’1” quarterback versus Murdock MacKay had 130 yards and 1 touchdown rushing to go along with 104 yards and 2 touchdowns, while adding 2 special team tackles, and going 2 for 2 in field goals and converts. He followed that up versus Dakota by rushing for 76 yards on 9 carries with two touchdowns and adding 209 passing yards with one touchdown. He also averaged 46 yards per punt and kicked 2 extra point converts. Coach Jon Romu states, “Michael is a great leader who leads by example. His play picks up his teammates and motivates them to do their best. He is a tremendous athlete who plays quarterback, punter, and place kicker. He is our leading rusher, passer, and scorer. He is very knowledgeable and coachable. He is also the hardest working player on the team and a fantastic team leader. He plays with a tenacity that is never matched.”
This grade 12 student maintains an 82% average.
