Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Lana Mackic of the Miles Macdonell Buckeyes basketball team.

This 5’11” forward is averaging 27 points and 17 rebounds a game for the Buckeyes. She has received countless player of the game awards and tournament all-star selections. Coach Karl Schroeder states, “Lana is one of those ‘once in a decade’ type of players. She already trains like a university athlete in the weight room and on her own time working on her basketball skills. She is appreciative of her teammates, coaches and the fans that support our team. It is truly a privilege to coach Lana. I look forward to seeing her compete at the next level.”

In grade 12, she maintains a 96% academic average, while also participating in cross country, badminton, and track & field.
