Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Keylyn Filewich of the Vincent Massey Trojans basketball team in Winnipeg.

This 6’0” forward is scoring 15 points, 10 defensive rebounds and 8 offensive rebounds a game, to go along with 3 blocks a game.  In her first tournament back from injury, the St. Vital Invitational, she was named a tournament all-star, while helping lead the Trojans to the tournament Championship. Coach Stacy Hawash states, “A great leader on and off the court. Her physical presence allows her the opportunity to dominate in the paint. Smart player and student athlete. Brings that ability and knowledge to the game to not only create for herself but also her teammates.”

In grade 12, she maintains a 95% academic average, while also participating in volleyball.
