Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Rural High School Athlete of the Week is Jenai Buchanan of the Pilot Mound Pilots fastpitch team.

This 5’7” catcher helped lead the Pilots to an undefeated season in Zone 6 fastball league and Zone tournament. The Pilots won the banner for the first time in 10 years. In the three games in the Zone tournament She caught ever inning and batted .666 going 4 for 6 with a single, two doubles and a home run. Coach Ruth Loney states, “Jenai leads by example. She is a fierce competitor and expects the very best from herself and the rest of her teammates. Jenai is a student of the game of softball and she is able to keep her pitchers focused and bring them back from a tough inning.

This grade 12 student maintains an 85% academic average, while also participating in volleyball, badminton, and track & field.
