Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Urban High School Athlete of the Week is Matthew Lehmann of the JH Bruns Broncos track & field team.

This 5’11” runner was a triple gold medal winner at the Milk Provincial Track & Field Championships, winning the 800m, Medley Relay, and 4x400m Relay.  He also anchored his 4x100m Relay team to a 4th place finish.  Coach Mark Conrad states, “Matthew is a highly motivated athlete as an individual, displaying incredible drive and a constant desire to improve and push himself to new performance levels. However, perhaps more importantly, Matt takes on a leadership role within the team itself. From recruiting new students to join the track program, to organizing team events, to offering guidance and instruction to athletes learning new technical skills, his role on the team is and has been for his four years in Bruns - much broader than that of just being an outstanding athlete”.

This grade 12 student maintains a 97% academic average.
