Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Urban High School Athlete of the Week is Sarah Smith of the Dakota Lancers track & field team.

This 5’6” runner won 4 gold at the SCAC Zone Championships in the 100m, 200m, 80m hurdles and Medley Relay, while also picking up a silver in the 4 x 400m relay.  At the Milk Provincial Track & Field Championships she continue her success on the track winning a gold medal in the 80m Hurdles, and silver medals in the 100m, 4 x 400 Relay and Medley Relay.  Coach Ray Agostino states, “Sarah has tremendous focus and determination. She is a very strong and powerful runner who gets stronger and faster as the year goes on. She was a great teammate, showing this by dropping an individual event at Provincials to compete in a relay event that they won a silver in.”

This grade 11 student maintains an 85% academic average, while also competing in volleyball, basketball, and fastball.
