Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Urban Athlete of the Week is Laura Hill of the St. Mary’s Academy Flames volleyball team. 

This 5’11” middle led the Flames to a first place finish in the Selkirk and St. Vital tournaments, earning MVP honours at both events.   At the St. Vital tournament she put up some impressive stats, with a hitting efficiency of 54% and 30 blocks. Coach Christine Rewniak states, “Laura is a dynamic player who has the ability to change the flow of a game with her aggressive attacking and blocking style. She works extremely hard and is very receptive to feedback. These traits, along with her positive attitude, have contributed to her becoming a dominant middle attacker.”

In grade 12, she maintains an 80% academic average.
