Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Rural High School Athlete of the Week is Megan Thiessen of the Morris Mavericks basketball team.

This 5’10” point guard has received many player of the game awards and was a tournament all-star at the Souris and Morris tournaments. She was instrumental in the Mavericks winning the Zone 4 championship and qualifying for the Provincial “AA” Basketball Championships. Coach Lauren Edel states, “Megan is a great asset to our team. She is consistently one of our top shooters, averaging 20 plus points per game. Megan spends many hours in the gym shooting and working on her skills. She is hard working and determined.”

This grade 12 student maintains a 72% academic average, while also participating in volleyball, soccer and track & field.
