Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Rural High School Athlete of the Week is Tanja Gohl of the Souris Sabres basketball team.

This 5’8” forward was an All-star at Sabres Shootout, Hamiota, and Elton tournaments this year.  She led her team to silver at the Milk Provincial “AA” Basketball Championships, where she also received all-star recognition.  She averaged 15.4 points, 3.1 steals, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game this season.  Coach Trever Penner states, “Tanja is truly one of a kind. It is very rare to see her outworked at any time on the court. As valuable as she is on the court, she does a tremendous job in the locker room keeping her teammates loose and having fun with her antics and jokes. She is the heart of our team and approaches each game without any fear of any circumstance. She works hard to keep her game at high level.”

This grade 12 student maintains an 80% academic average.
