Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Powerland Urban High School Athlete of the Week is Nya Krauchi of the Sturgeon Heights Huskies volleyball team.

This 5’7” libero had a strong showing at the McDonalds AAAA JV Volleyball Championships leading the team with a strong serve receive and tenacious defense. At the WWAC zone championships she was named a championship all-star.  Coach Paul Dyrland states, “Nya had a very strong week at AAAA JV provincials this past week. She made some huge digs at key points in matches to keep rallies going, allowing our hitters to put a ball away for us. She passed very well on serve receive, and allowed our team to operate effectively in system. She has been a defensive leader for our team all year, and she played her best volleyball at the biggest stage."

In grade 10, she maintains an 80% academic average.
