Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Powerland Rural High School Athlete of the Week is Sam Jackman of the Morris Mavericks basketball team.

This 6’4” forward is averaging 50 points per game.  This past weekend in the Souris Invitational he scored a season high 97 points in 111-105 victory in the consolation final.  Coach Rick Ricard states, “As a coach, I definitely appreciate the skill Sam brings to the team, but one thing I have seen as a huge improvement in, is Sam's leadership role. This season he has really turned into the captain I have wanted to see out of him. He has really matured and is a great leader on and off the court”. 

This Grade 12 student maintains a 70% academic average, while also participating in volleyball, soccer, badminton, and track & field.
