Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Powerland Rural High School Athlete of the Week is Vanessa Friesen of the Green Valley Pirates track & field team.

This 5’10” track athlete won gold in the zone 13 varsity girls 100m, triple jump and High Jump, while coming in second in the 200m.  Coach Justin Hart states, “Vanessa is athletically gifted, but her drive and determination are what allow her to build on her gifts and stand-out among other athletes. This drive and determination has allowed her to lead her Volleyball teams to a JV Bronze Medal, Varsity Silver Medal and this year a Varsity Provincial Championship. In addition to this, she is a top 10 sprinter and high jumper in the Province.”

In grade 12, she maintains an 85% academic average, while also participating in volleyball, soccer, basketball, fast pitch and ultimate.
