Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Urban High School Athlete of the Week is Emily Johnson of the Oak Park Raiders basketball team.

Playing her third year with the varsity team at Oak Park, she has led the Raiders to two tournament victories and an undefeated season in league play so far.  She is averaging 19 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists per game.  Coach Murray Brown States, "Emily is a very accomplished player who can adapt her game to meet the requirements of the game. She is outstanding in the open court, extremely fast with great vision which results in great scoring opportunities in transition. She is also excellent in the half court with great 15-foot shooting range. Emily is an outstanding defender, capable of defending both guards and forwards. She takes quiet pride in her ability to match up and defend the other team's best offensive player.  Emily is an excellent player and student, but an even better person. Emily will excel at whatever she chooses to pursue when she graduates from Oak Park."

She maintains a 97% academic average while also participating in ultimate.
