Michael (Mike) Babb of Elmwood High School, has coached basketball (junior high to university), soccer (mini soccer to Premier and regional programs), rugby (junior high to Provincial teams), cross country, track and field, volleyball (junior high and junior varsity) and football. During his years in high school he played basketball and football. He was a member of the Jr. Bison’s basketball team, assistant coach of the University of Manitoba Bisons basketball program from 1982-1984 and a Junior Football Manitoba Champion with the 1975 Fort Garry Lions. He has coached over 115 teams with most of them being at the high school level. He rebuilt the Churchill basketball program, upped the Sisler varsity girls to a compete level and won a few Winnipeg School Division championships. He sat on the MHSAA Board of Directors from 2002-2004. Mike was a key part of the track and field upgrades to Elmwood High School’s track. He chaired the Winnipeg School Division’s Junior High Athletic Council for 14 years and is currently the Winnipeg High Schools Senior High Athletic Council Chair. He was Volunteer of the Year for rugby and for the MHSAA during its 50th anniversary, and basketball coach of the year in 1994 at Sisler High School.
