Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Urban High School Athlete of the Week is Abby Benson of the Lord Selkirk Royals basketball team.

In a recent league game, she had a season high 35 points, while also adding 7 assists, 6 steals and 5 rebounds for the Royals. For the season she is averaging 23 points per game, shooting 33% from the 3-point line and earned MVP honours at the Maples tournament. Coach Sue Gilmour states, "Abby brings a level of defensive intensity that sparks her teammates and brings out the best in everyone. She is an exceptional leader on and off the court, and an excellent role model for her teammates and school."

In grade 12 she maintains an academic average of 91%.
