Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Urban High School Athlete of the Week is Waqo Tessema of the Glenlawn Lions basketball team.

The starting point guard for the Glenlawn Varsity Boys Basketball Team. He recently became the first 10th grade athlete to win the MVP award in the 68-year history of the renowned Luther Invitational Tournament in Regina. During the season he has been selected as an all-star at the St. Pauls tournament, and at the Piper Classic. He is averaging 25 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals per game. Coach Jonathan Wolfe states, "Waqo is a student of the game and works relentlessly on his own time to improve."

This Grade 10 student maintains an 89% academic average.
