Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Urban High School Athlete of the Week is Aira Abello of the Sisler Spartans basketball team.  

She led her team to some key wins down the stretch, including a first round victory in the Winnipeg Tier 1 basketball leagues play-offs. She is currently averaging 26.5 points, 6.4 rebouds, 4.1 steals and 8.6 assist per game.  Coach Michael Tan states, "She has been a vocal leader this season and has helped her teammates find confidence in themselves. Aira's leadership has rubbed off on the younger players as they are keen to be in the gym with her to prepare for our upcoming games.  Aira is a relentless worker and has pushed her body to the limit and only the best is yet to come for her."

In grade 12, she maintains a 75% academic average.
