Manitoba's Credit Unions Scholar Athlete

Mikayla Gawiak of Hapnot Collegiate in Flin Flon, Manitoba: Mikayla participates in Golf, Cross Country Running, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton and Track and Field. She is also an accomplished Figure Skater. She maintains a 99% average, and is a recipient of several scholarships and honour rolls. She is president of the Athletic Council, involved with the Grad Committee, is a Jazz Night Performer and Assistant Coach for Junior High Volleyball. She is also a program assistant for the Flin Flon Skating Club and has fundraised for several charities including organizing a “Play for the Cure” Volleyball Tournament which raised $1700.00 for Cancer. Mikayla states “In sports you come face to face with good, bad, challenging, frustrating, and even complicating experiences, but by the end of the day you have learned the lesson and continue to grow as an athlete, a leader, a teammate and a friend. High School sports gave me the fundamentals of pursuing a healthy life style and deep enjoyment of physical activity.”
