Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Dairy Farmers of Manitoba High School Athlete of the Week is Joel Geake of the Morden Thunder badminton team.

Competing in the Varsity Boys singles category for badminton this season he captured the Zone 4 Championship qualifying him for the Provincial Badminton Championships. In two pre zone competitions he was the winner of both the Northlands Parkway and W.C. Miller tournaments.  Athletic Director Nicole Rutledge states, "Joel is an excellent student and athlete in our school, he maintains a high academic average combined with excellent fitness.   Joel competes hard, respects his opponents, coaches, officials and the game in addition to highlighting good sportsmanship and fair play".

This grade 12 student has achieved honour role status with distinction maintaining a 94% academic average.  Throughout the year he also competes in cross country and soccer.
