The Dairy Farmers of Manitoba High School Athlete of the Week is Mya Pearce of the Nellie McClung Stingers fast pitch team in Manitou.

Pearce recently returned to the Stingers line up after suffering a broken wrist, where she led them to the Zone 6 Championships, pitching three consecutive games in the process.  She followed that up this past weekend at the Neepawa tournament, pitching two complete games and posting 15 strikes outs. Coach Grant Caldwell states, "What made this extraordinary, is that Mya did so with a broken left wrist that is still in a cast. She broke her wrist over a month ago and had not played all season. In the last month, Mya also competed in Provincial badminton and is doing track with this same broken wrist which shows the type of competitor she is.  As a coach, I feel it is a phenomenal achievement".

This grade 11 student maintains an 81% academic average, while throughout the year having also participated on the volleyball team that qualified for provincials and on the golf team that won the Zone 6 Golf Championship.
