Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

Rhys Sheppard of the Margaret Barbour badminton team in The Pas, is this week’s Tri-Star Rural High School athlete of the week. This 5’10” boys doubles player, along with his partner, won first in all the tournaments they played, while winning the Zone 11 Championship for the second consecutive year. They went on to the Provincial Championships where they claimed a Silver Medal. Coach Bev Dyrcakz states, “Rhys is a very motivated and driven individual. He puts in many hours in and outside of practice working on his skills. He is a quiet leader on the team, encouraging others to do better, and helping to push them further”. This grade 12 student maintains an 85% average, while also participating in volleyball, soccer, cross-country, basketball, and track & field.
