Ron Hinkewich of Miles Macdonell Collegiate was a multi sport athlete in the early 70’s.  He won the Jr. Boys shot put championship in 1970 as well as the Freshman Volleyball Championship. In 1970-71, the Buckeyes were Provincial Volleyball Finalists and Provincial Basketball Champions.  In 1971-72 they won both the Basketball and Volleyball Provincials and Ron was the captain. They won Volleyball Provincial again the next year, after high school Ron went on to play at the University of Winnipeg where he won two CIAU Championships and then, two Senior Men's Championships. He was selected to two Canadian National Volleyball Team tryouts and 1976 was a late cut of the Canadian Olympic team.
