Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

This 6’1” post player led his team to another Provincial “A” Basketball Championship title this year. Over the course of the season he averaged 23 points, 8 assists, and 9 rebounds a game. At provincials he was averaging 24 points a game leading his team in scoring and was selected Game Star in their semi-final win. Coach Jared Baines states, “I’ve had the tremendous pleasure of coaching this fine young man for the past four seasons. Within this time, Matthew has been on a team that has won four Provincial Titles. He has been a team captain for the past three years. He is a quiet leader with an exceptional work ethic, on and off the floor. He is one of the most consistent players that I have ever coached”. This grade 12 student maintains an 90% average, while also participating in cross country and track & field.
