Brian MacLaren (Volleyball/Track – Vincent Massey) – Brian was an outstanding athlete while at Vincent Massey Collegiate (Winnipeg) and won numerous Provincial Championships in his High School and University years. He was MHSAA provincial champion in the 100 m, 200 m and 4 x 100 m relay. He held the provincial records in both the 400 m and 800 m (for 25 years). In 1968, MacLaren represented Canada in the Mexico City Olympics, running in the 4 x 400 m Relay.  He participated again in the 1972 Olympics in Munich running both as an individual and as a member of the 4 x400 m team.  He was able to participate at home for the 1967 Pan Am Games where he was a Silver Medalist in the 4 x 400 m, and Bronze Medalist in the 800 m. He was a bronze medalist in the 4 x 400 m relay at the Commonwealth Games. While on scholarship at North Dakota State University he achieved “Little All American” status and was North Central Conference champion in the 440, the 880, mile and the 4 x 440 relay.  A teacher at Murdoch MacKay, Brian gave back to sport at the High School level being a coach, as well President of the MHSAA for three years and also served as a board member of the Canadian School Sports federation.
