Legion Athletic Camps – George Phillips was a long time educator in the Winnipeg School Division retiring as Principal of Kelvin High School.  This leader was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame this past October, and is best known from his involvement with the Legion Athletic Camps which he helped found in 1962 and is held at the International Peace Gardens near Boissevain. He remains the driving force behind the success of the camp.  George also conducted numerous track and field clinics throughout Rural Manitoba and was a key organizer of the Red River Relays held regularly at the Winnipeg Arena.
