Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

Emilie Shaw of the Vincent Massey Trojans badminton team is this week’s Home Run Sports Urban High School athlete of the week. Shaw along with girls doubles partner, Helen Cheung, had a tremendous season. She finished second at the Collège Louis-Riel and Maples tournaments and won the West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Championship. At the MHSAA Provincial Badminton Championships in Carman they claimed the gold medal, helping lead the Trojans to the Aggregate Team Title as well. Coach Marty Balcaen states, "Emilie is a committed and dedicated athlete who does whatever it takes to help her team win. She epitomizes determination and is extremely coachable. Her leadership and 'team first' mentality ultimately led to her and Helen having so much success this season." In grade 12, she maintains an average of 92%, while also participating in cross-country.
