Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

Matthew Fraser of the Garden City Fighting Gophers Soccer team is this week’s Home Run Sports Urban High School athlete of the week. This 6’1” goalie led his team to an undefeated season, posting 4 shut outs in 9 games. His most recent shut out came in the Kildonan Peguis Athletic Conference semi-finals qualifying the Gophers for the league finals. Coach Mike Peterson states, “Matt always has a positive attitude on and off the field. He is the vocal leader from the back and constantly quarterbacks his team during the entire game. He is a reliable teammate and consistently makes timely saves at key points throughout games”. In grade 11, he maintains an average of 85%.
