Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

Brett Bigourdin of the John Taylor Pipers Hockey team is this week’s Home Run Sports Urban High School athlete of the week. This 5’8” goalie led the team to capture the Sturgeon Heights Husky Tournament championship defeating Oak Park in the final 3-1. He has a combined 7-0 record with a 1.71 goals against average and has posted 3 shutouts. Coach Justin Steeves states, “Brett is playing at an elite level for us right now. His leadership qualities have rubbed off on the rest of the team. Brett leads by example on the ice and his voice is heard and respected in the dressing room. No matter what the situation, Brett never gets rattled, he is the most poised goalie I have ever coached”. In grade 12, he maintains an average of 76%.
