Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Rural High School Athlete of the Week is Sydney Pickup of the Major Pratt Trojans volleyball team in Russell.

This 5’10” power hitter led the team to victory over the weekend at the Goose Lake Invitational and was awarded the tournament MVP. She leads the team in kill percentage and also earlier this year lead her team to the finals in the Garden Valley tournament. Coach Cheri Totte states, “She has put in a lot of effort over the summer to up her game and make herself the team leader on and off the court. When she walks on the court, whether it be practice or a game, she puts everything she has into it. She is the type of player that any coach would love to have on their team”. 

This grade 12 student maintains a 90% average, while also participating in fastpitch.
