Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

The Tire Recycle Rural High School Athlete of the Week is Jay Ort of the Carman Cougars cross country team.

This 5’10” runner won his fourth consecutive gold medal at the Provincial Cross Country Championships.  He is undefeated in MHSAA cross country competition throughout his four years of high school.  Coach Lyle Myers states, “One of his main talents leading to his success is that he can get out of bed in the morning to train.  He is an extremely hard worker, which has paid off with this tremendous accomplishment of winning four consecutive championships”.

This grade 12 student maintains a 97% average, while also participating in badminton, and track & field.
