Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Athlete of the Week

Alex Berg of the Duke of Marlborough Storm basketball team, in Churchill, is this week’s Tri-Star Rural High School athlete of the week. This 5’8” post helped lead her team to the school’s first ever Zone 11 Basketball Championship qualifying them for the Provincial “A” Basketball Championships. She started in every game at zones helping the Storm go undefeated throughout the championship. At the Provincial Championships in their game against Pinawa she was selected as player of the game. Coach Tim Brock states, “It was exciting to see the transformation Alex has made from a true volleyball player to basketball. Her dedication and commitment to the sport is astonishing. She is a quiet leader on the court, and leads by example. She is an absolute joy to coach and I couldn’t have been prouder of her hard work”. This grade 12 student maintains an average of 86%, while also competing in volleyball, badminton and track & field.
