Athlete of the Year

Jill Swirsky of Garden City Collegiate Fighting Gophers: Swirsky participated in basketball, volleyball, soccer, track & field, cross-country, and badminton.  She was team captain for all her varsity teams. In basketball, she received a number of all-star awards including a Kildonan Conference all-star. She was the top scorer on her team and was one of the leading scorers in the KCAC conference.  As the starting setter for her volleyball team, she again received many all-star awards. She placed third at the Provincial Cross-country Running Championships and won three bronze medals at the Provincial High School Track & Field Championships. In badminton, Swirsky, along with her girls doubles partner placed second in their conference and at two other tournaments. She was also selected as the Pace Setter High School Athlete of the Week for her play during the badminton season. Her soccer team won the KCAC conference and qualified for the provincial championships. She is also actively involved on the Student council, Grad Committee, and as a Peer tutor.
